Saudi Debate – An interesting forum

I am grateful to the Israel Palestine Blog, who informed me that recently a group of Saudi Arabian intellectuals created an internet forum in English, www.saudidebate.com, in which they discuss the issues of their politics, society and religion from various points of view.

For somebody like me, whose information about the Arab world taken from the Western press is almost reduced to reports about the strictest Islamic fundamentalism, this gives an opportunity to see that there are also enlightened, liberal and moderate voices among Muslims. We should take more note of that.

For the beginning, I have read some articles by Mona Eltahawi, which I found quite interesting.
